Akshata Murty: Rishi Sunak’s wife

As the first British Prime Minister of Indian descent, Rishi Sunak is about to assume office.

Sunak's run for the top job was quite interesting.

His life partner Akshata Murty, the daughter of Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy and philanthropist Sudha Murthy, was the only one who stood steadfastly by his side.

At Stanford University in the US, where they were both studying nearly 18 years ago, Murty and Sunak first became acquainted.

On the prestigious Fulbright scholarship, Sunak attended Stanford.

Sunak said to his better half, "You know what you mean to me, and I am incredibly grateful that 18 years ago you chose to give up your high heels and take a chance on the short kid with a backpack," at a concert venue in Wembley.

According to the UK Rich List 2022, Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty have a combined net worth of £730 million.

Akshata owns 3.89 billion shares, or 0.93 percent of Infosys, and receives dividends from the industry leader in IT services.

According to the company's filings with the stock exchanges, she received dividend income from her shares in the IT bellwether totaling Rs 126.61 crore ($15.3 million) in 2022.
