Ahoi Ashtami 2021 Date, Vrat Katha, Vrat Vidhi, Puja Samagari, Puja Muhurat, and everything

Ahoi Ashtami will be celebrated on October 28 this year i.e. four days after Karwa Chauth. Ahoi Ashtami 2021is celebrated on Ashtami of Krishna Paksha month. On this day, women, fast for their children’s long lives, progress, happiness, and prosperity. 

Mothers don’t eat or drink anything and fast for the whole day and then worship goddess Ahoi later in the evening. After sunset offers water to the star and conclude their fast. On this day, god Shiva and goddess Parvati are also worshipped along with their sons. 

Ahoi Ashtami 2021: Date and Timing

Date: October 28, 2021, the Ashtami of Krishan Paksha.

Timing: Ahoi Ashtami will start from 12.51 pm on Thursday (28 October 2021) and will be concluded at 02:10 am on Friday (29 October 2021).

Asthami tithi timings: October 28, 12:49 pm – October 29, 2:09 pm

Ahoi Ashtami 2021: Vrat Vidhi, Puja Samagari

Women get up early in the morning and first take a bath. They will take a pledge to keep the fast for the whole day for their children’s well-being. Then they will do preparations for the puja before the sunset.

Draw the image of Ahoi Mata (goddess) on a wall. The image drawn should have ‘Ashtha Koshthak’ or eight corners. Along with other images, the picture of ‘Sei’ (hedgehog with its children) is drawn close to Goddess Ahoi. You can also use the wallpaper of Ahoi Ashtami. The image also depicts the seven sons with the daughters-in-law according to the Ahoi Ashtami Katha.

A pot known as ‘Karva’ is filled with water and covered with a lid and kept near the image drawn. Buy one type of grass named ‘Sarai Seenka’ and keep it on the nozzle of the image. Bring more ‘Sarai Seenka’ grass as the same is also offered in the puja rituals later part of the day.

Bring silver form is known as ‘Syau’ and worship it with milk, roli, and akshata during the puja.

After the sunset performs puja of Ahoi Ashtami. All the women in the family get together for the puja. Also, listen to the Ahoi Mata Vrat Katha. After the puja, this ‘Syau’ is woven in a thread with two silver pearls and worn by women around their necks.

Special food like puri, halwa, and pua is also prepared on this day. The puja is over after performing the ‘Ahoi Mata aarti’ at the end.

Ahoi Ashtami Vrat Katha

There was a man and his wife who had seven sons. His wife went into the forest to fetch some mud. While tilling the land with a tool, she accidentally killed lioness cubs. lioness cursed the woman that she would lose all her children and then she will understand the grief of separation.

According to Vrat Katha, her curse came out to be true, and the woman lost all her sons.

The couple went on a pilgrimage to seek forgiveness for their crime. The priest asked them to worship a holy cow and pray to Ahoi Mata. They followed all the instructions and prayed to Ahoi Mata. Rituals they performed on the day are known as Ahoi Ashtami Vrat. They were blessed with a child.
